new town kings

We have live music every Friday evening in the Saloon Bar from 9.00 pm.  Entry is free and styles vary from acoustic guitars to rock and roll.  Click HERE to find out who's playing in the coming month.

Every last Sunday of the month, we have a traditional New Orleans Jazz band playing live in The Saloon Bar.  No entry fee - music starts from 3.00 pm.

Open Mic Night, hosted by The Flaming Llamas, takes place on the 3rd Thursday of every month.  All musicians/vocalists are welcome to come along on the night and try their hand at performing in front of an audience.

Our Summer Beer Festival is held outside in a big top marquee on the third weekend of July.  We have up to 40 beers and a range of ciders.  The Festival features various live music and delicious food from The Turkish Kitchen alongside traditional spit roasts.  There is a very special 'festival' style atmosphere and, needless to say, the whole family is welcome.

Now in its 20th year, our fortnightly Sunday night quiz is a bit of an institution!  Everyone is welcome - teams or individuals (no limit on team size).  The cost is £1 per person which is added to a running total which can be won at random by any team - not necessarily by the quiz winners.  The quiz starts at 8.00 pm and runs for about 2 hours.  No quiz on bank holiday Sundays.

1967 WEEKEND67 weekend

To celebrate the anniversary of the Ferguson family securing the tenancy of The Bell way back in 1967, we have a party weekend at the end of February to which everybody is welcome.  Expect people to be dressed in '60s gear, dancing to '60s music and buying retro drinks (Babycham, Mild, Snowballs) with shillings and pence at...oh yes....1967 prices! (Pub opening hours in 1967 apply).

The Disraeli Room continues its transformation into the Disraeli Theatre and we hope to push on with the refurbishment throughout 2014, working towards a programme of events to inform and entertain the local community.  This first floor room remains available for private hire and is ideal for meetings, anniversaries, christenings and other gatherings for a maximum of 60 guests.  Please contact us at for further information.

The Bell (staff & customers) have adopted the village telephone box and are
currently in the process of restoring it to its original state.  It now has a smart
new coat of paint and, once finished, could prove quite an attraction.
