The Green Board
In 2006, back in our salad days, we decided to commit to more ethical sourcing for our produce, concentrating on free range meats and provenance. Then in 2017, we felt compelled to improve The Bell's green credentials. We introduced 'The Green Board' on our office wall to record both future plans and current achievements. Whilst we have taken small steps rather than great leaps, we feel we have still travelled some distance. Here are just a few of the changes we've made in the last 6 years - with more (we hope) to come.
The Bar
Compostable crisp packets, recyclable peanut pots
Sapling (certified carbon neutral) - house gin and vodka
Folkington’s (certified carbon neutral) fruit juices
Recycled glassware
Spulboy Glasswasher
Eco firelighters and hot logs
Re-usable quiz answer sheets
The Kitchen
Free range meats and local provenance
Increased vegetarian and vegan offerings
Cooking oil is recycled (all welcome to contribute)
Huge percentage of food waste is donated to Penny’s chickens - thank you, hens, for the eggs!
No more individually wrapped butter pats - we portion our own from large blocks
Saving water. Until the tap runs hot. We use the excess to fill the dishwasher, boil vegetables, water the garden
The Toilets
Washable cotton towels and cruelty free bars of soap
No flush urinals. Cleaned regularly with recycled beer line cleaner and recycled descale solution
Miscellaneous
Ecosia in place of Google. Great search engine, plants trees
Epsom Eco Printer
TRAID charity bin for secondhand clothes in the garden
DANAHER RSPCA affilliated animal home - drop off box
Refill station - various detergents etc available on site.
Cleaning products are predominantly sourced from green, sustainable producers.
